Oh why hello. I didn't see ya there. If you read the little blurb on the home page you probably know what this website is all about. But just in case you didn't--welcome to The Marquis website!

The next thing you must be thinking is "what the hell is The Marquis?"  Well the truth is you probably aren't alone in this statement. You and a lot of people most likely haven't heard of us. Despite what Luke says we aren't some top secret or selective group. Rather, we are a small group of people who, for one day of the week, are able to get away from the stress of equations and labs that this campus seems to be surrounded by, and immerse our selves in poetry and art.

Now, don't get me wrong math and science are fantastic. But in a campus where those things are so prominent, it's always good to get away once in a while and stumble into a world where people find a way to arrange the 26 letters of our beloved alphabet and create beautiful poetry and short stories.

The Marquis isn't simply about reading good writing. It's reading pieces that stand out to us, that make take a second glance and say "wow." Best of all, everything that we read is submitted by you guys--students at Lafayette! We firmly believe that you don't need to be an adult to write something spectacular. If you write something truthful about your life, or about life in general, and show us the way of your own personal voice, we consider that phenomenal writing. Like I always say, show us Via Veritas Vita--or The Way, The Truth, The Life.
